The Battle Ground Tigers fell flat in the second and third quarters Tuesday night and fell into the consolation bracket of the Class 4A bi-district boys basketball tournament.

Jeremy Smith and Austin Benson each scored 14 points to pace Kentwood’s balanced attack.

Balance was a problem, according to Battle Ground coach Andy Schoonover. The Tigers had trouble defending Kentwood because the Conquerers have so many options.

Six Kentwood players scored in the second and third periods, when the Conqs went up 48-36.

Serg Ovchinnikov led Battle Ground with 27 points.

Kaleb McGary had 14 points and seven rebounds, and Jake Belford had seven points and seven boards for the Tigers.

Battle Ground will face Central Kitsap in a loser-out game Friday. The Tigers must win two in a row to advance to regionals.
