SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — Kevin Giltner scored 26 points and Wofford took a 16-point halftime lead in a 72-59 victory over Elon Wednesday night in the Southern Conference.
Giltner scored 19 points in the first half as Wofford (17-11, 10-6) led 38-22 at intermission.
Trailing 11-10 early, Wofford went on an 18-0 run to break it open at 28-11. Elon went scoreless for 7:07 before Drew Spradlin’s two free throws with 7:02 left in the half.
Lee Skinner came off the Wofford bench to score 15 points and Brad Loesing added 12.
Jack Isenbarger led Elon with 17 points. The Phoenix lost for the third straight game. Lucas Troutman and Ryley Beaumont added 10 points apiece.
Wofford had big advantages at the foul line and the 3-point arc, as the Terriers hit 9 of 25 treys to 4 of 15 for Elon. Wofford made 15 of 18 free throws to Elon’s 5 of 9.
