SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Archbishop Desmond Tutu of South Africa will be Gonzaga University’s commencement speaker on May 13.
The Nobel Peace Prize winner in 1984 says he accepted Gonzaga’s invitation after being inspired by the university’s global activism.
Tutu played a key role in the fight against white rule and discrimination in South Africa.
The Spokesman-Review says admission to the ceremony will be by invitation only.
