PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — The mysterious case of the beef heart on the doorstep has been solved.

And it just goes to prove it’s hard to get good help with a practical joke.

Police investigating why a beef heart in a box turned up Wednesday on the doorstep of a northwest Portland home have been contacted by a woman who says the heart was a joke gift meant for her but delivered to the wrong address. She lives around the corner.

Sgt. Pete Simpson says the case is closed.
