FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Greg Smith scored 14 points and was instrumental down the stretch as Colorado State pulled away in the second half to upend Wyoming 54-46 on Saturday night.

Trailing by two, Smith drained a 3-pointer with seven minutes remaining to stake Colorado State (16-9, 5-5 Mount West) to a 41-40 lead that proved to be permanent. Smith scored five points in the final 2:33 to help the Rams hang on for the victory.

Wyoming (18-8, 4-6) led by as many as eight in the first half and seven in the second half, but was undone in the second half by a poor defensive presence in the paint, getting outrebounded 19-8, and shooting a paltry 5 of 21 (23.8 percent).

Luke Martinez led with 15 points and Francisco Cruz added 10 for Wyoming.
