Jacksonville pulls away to beat Presbyterian 67-48

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. (AP) — Brian Williams scored 20 points as Jacksonville State defeated Presbyterian 67-48 on Saturday night after an 18-0 second-half run

Darion Rackley added 17 points and Tarvin Gaines had 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Gamecocks (12-17), who shot 61.9 percent (13 of 21) in the second half to pull away after leading 28-21 at halftime.

Jacksonville State led 34-21 with 16:36 remaining, but the Blue Hose (12-15) came back to trail just 47-44 with 7:44 left. The Gamecocks then scored the next 18 points, 10 of them by Rackley and seven by Williams, for a 65-44 advantage with 2:12 left in the Bracket Busters contest.

Al’Lonzo Coleman had 13 points and 11 rebounds to pace Presbyterian, and Khalid Mutakabbir added 11 points.

Jacksonville State, of the Ohio Valley Conference, had lost to Presbyterian, of the Big South Conference, in each of the past two seasons.
