ARLINGTON, Wash. (AP) — A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a 54-year-old woman, who was found after a house fire in Arlington, Wash., north of Everett.

On Saturday, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s office said the man had rented a room in the house. He was arrested Friday night and booked into Snohomish County Jail on investigation of second-degree murder and first-degree arson.

Police say an autopsy completed Wednesday showed the woman had been strangled before the fire. The medical examiner’s office ruled her death a homicide.

Fire crews found her body in the living room of the house.
