GHENT, Belgium (AP) — World indoor champion Dwain Chambers had a disappointing final outing before he defends his 60-meter title, finishing third at the Perfiction indoor meet Saturday.

Chambers finished in 6.70 seconds, trailing Yunier Perez of Cuba by 0.15 seconds. Jaysuma Saidy Ndure of Norway was second.

The British veteran had been seeking to improve on his season’s best time of 6.58 he set in Sheffield last week. Jamaica’s Lerone Clarke set the world-leading time of 6.47 earlier Saturday in Birmingham.

The world indoor championships are March 9-11 in Istanbul.
