LAKE PLACID, N.Y. (AP) — Steven Holcomb and brakeman Justin Olsen led the U.S. to victory Sunday in the team competition at the bobsled world championships.

The event is composed of one heat in four disciplines — men’s and women’s skeleton, women’s bobsled, and men’s two-man bobsled — and Holcomb saved his best for last.

Less than two hours after winning the gold medal in two-man with brakeman Steve Langton, Holcomb switched sleds and his brakeman and anchored the U.S. to the victory with a time of 56.20 seconds at Mount Van Hoevenberg, the fastest of the eight teams competing.

The U.S. finished in 3 minutes, 44.98 seconds. That was 0.73 seconds ahead of Germany 1 and 1.3 seconds ahead of third-place Canada 1.
