Dayton downs Duquesne 74-62

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Paul Williams led Dayton with 18 points, while Matt Kavanaugh recorded his second straight double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, to lead Dayton over Duquesne 74-62 Wednesday night.

Chris Johnson finished with 13 points and eight rebounds for the Flyers (17-10, 7-6 Atlantic 10 Conference), Josh Parker scored 12 and Kevin Dillard had 11 points. Devin Oliver grabbed a career-high 10 boards.

The Flyers have now won three of four, and avenged a Feb. 1 loss to the Dukes.

Dayton led 33-30 at the break, and the Flyers outscored the Dukes 19-6 during a nine-minute span to lead 66-56 with 2:40 left to clinch the win.

The Flyers shot 14 for 16 (87.5 percent) from the foul line compared to a 12-for-20 performance by the Dukes (60 percent). Dayton also outrebounded Duquesne 41-24.

Mike Talley finished with 13 points to lead Duquesne (15-12, 6-7), and B.J. Monteiro added 10.
