VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Former Notre Dame defender Greg Klazura has signed with Major League Soccer’s Vancouver Whitecaps.

The 23-year-old was Vancouver’s second-round choice and the 21st pick overall in last month’s supplemental draft. He had been on a trial with the team in recent weeks.

Klazura played five years with the Fighting Irish and was co-captain in his final season, when he had three assists in 18 starts.

Klazura has spent the past two summers with the Indiana Invaders in the United Soccer Leagues’ Premier Development League.
