Shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, Vancouver firefighters rushed to Cascade Middle School where a student on a bicycle crashed into another student on foot, said Capt. Dave James with the Vancouver Fire Department.
The students were a sixth-grader and a seventh-grader, but Friday night it was unknown which one was on the bike, James said.
One of the students suffered life-threatening injuries and was unconscious; the other student suffered less serious injuries, he said.
A firefighter-paramedic rode in the ambulance to help AMR Northwest paramedics keep the critically injured student alive during the ride to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center, James added.
