Barton, Jackson lead Memphis past Marshall 87-67

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Will Barton scored 24 points and Joe Jackson added 21 to lead Memphis to an 87-67 win over Marshall on Saturday.

Chris Crawford finished with 16 points, eight assists, seven rebounds and three steals for the Tigers (21-8, 11-3 Conference USA), who have won two straight games. Tarik Black added 18 points.

Memphis went into halftime with a 42-37 lead, then opened the second half with a 10-3 run, pushing its margin to 12 points. The Thundering Herd closed the gap to five points but never posed a threat as the Tigers later increased their lead to 82-62 when Jackson made two free throws with 2:34 left to play.

Dennis Tinnon had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds for Marshall (17-11, 8-6), which had its three-game winning streak snapped. DeAndre Kane also had 16 points and five turnovers, Damier Pitts had 13 points and Shaquille Johnson added 10.
