Evansville nudges Missouri State 75-70 in overtime

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Denver Holmes hit a 3-pointer with 1 second left to force overtime, and Evansville beat Missouri State 75-70 in a regular-season finale Saturday.

The Aces (15-14, 9-9 Missouri Valley) never trailed in overtime, outscoring the Bears 13-8 and handing them their fourth straight loss.

Ned Cox led Evansville with 17 points, including five in the extra session. Troy Taylor and Colt Ryan scored 12 apiece, and Kenny Harris and Ryan Sawvell each had 11, with Harris notching six in OT.

The Bears (16-15, 9-9) got 20 points from Jarmar Gulley, 17 from Anthony Downing and 13 from Kyle Weems. Keith Pickens grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Downing hit two free throws to put the Bears up 62-59 with 9 seconds left before Holmes sank his key 3-pointer.

Harris opened overtime with a layup, and the Aces were on their way.

Missouri State outrebounded Evansville 50-31.

The Aces swept the season series.
