BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash. (AP) — A fire Sunday has destroyed a century-old house on Bainbridge Island and sent one man to the hospital.

Smoke from the morning blaze was visible across Puget Sound in Seattle.

The Kitsap Sun reports (http://bit.ly/zW8gtZ) that two people staying in the house were able to escape the fire. No significant damage was reported at a neighboring guest house on the property, where three others were staying.

One man suffered smoke inhalation and was flown to Harborview Medical Center.

The fire was reported at 6:15 a.m. and was largely extinguished by 8 a.m.
