ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — Alaska Airlines says it’s proud to support the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race for a 34th year.

The airline is providing air transportation and dog-care supplies for veterinarians for the race that begins Saturday in Anchorage.

The airline also presents the Leonhard Seppala Humanitarian Award, which recognizes one musher for providing exemplary dog care. The award is named after the musher whose 1925 sled-dog team traveled the longest distance to transport diphtheria serum to Nome.
