DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Garrius Holloman scored 16 points and Bethune-Cookman pulled away in the second half for a 74-64 victory over Hampton on Monday night.

A layup by Holloman put the Wildcats (14-16, 10-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) ahead to stay, 51-50 with 11:49 remaining, in a game that had 14 lead changes. Back-to-back 3-pointers by Holloman and Kevin Dukes opened a 60-53 lead with 9:30 left.

Adrien Coleman and Stanley Elliott scored 15 points each and Dukes 13 for Bethune-Cookman, which outshot Hampton 54.2 percent (26 of 48) to 41 percent (25 of 61) and had 16 fast-break points to none for the Pirates (10-19, 6-9).

Darrion Pellum scored 19 points to lead Hampton, including 16 in the first half.

The Wildcats’ hopes of overtaking Delaware State for a first-round bye in the conference tournament remained alive when the Hornets lost to Morgan State.
