A Tualatin, Ore., man died Sunday from injuries suffered in a state Highway 14 crash east of Carson in Skamania County.

The accident that claimed the life of Gunnar M. Mikesell, 29, happened at 7:25 a.m. Sunday, the Washington State Patrol said.

The patrol said Mikesell, 29, was westbound in a 1998 Toyota Corolla when he failed to negotiate a left turn, went off the road, corrected and slid broadside into an eastbound pickup driven by Brandon R. Posey, 27, of Battle Ground. The accident happened at Milepost 49.

Posey was driving a 1998 Chevrolet pickup and was pulling a trailer with snowmobiles.

Posey and his passengers — Robert E. Posey, 56, of Vancouver, and Robert E. Larsen, 44, of Camas — were taken to PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center. They were treated and released, a hospital nursing supervisor said.

The patrol report said alcohol or drugs were suspected as a factor.

An investigation continues.
