Joe Bordak had two goals and one assist as the Vancouver Victory beat the Eugene Generals 5-2 on Sunday to advance to the second round of the Northern Pacific Hockey League playoffs.

Sunday’s win at Mountain View Ice Arena gave the Victory a 2-1 series win over the Generals. Vancouver will meet the regular-season champion Seattle Junior Totems in the NORPAC semifinals.

That best-of-5 series will start with games at 8:15 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday at Olympic View Ice Arena in Mountlake Terrace. Game 3 will be at 7 p.m. on Friday at Mountain View Ice Arena. Times for Games 4 and 5, if needed, have not yet been determined.

A power-play goal by Jack Petrino gave Vancouver a 1-0 first-period lead. The victory led 2-0 after two periods thanks to a shorthanded goal from Joe Bordak.

The Victory put away the game by pushing the lead to 5-0 with less than five minutes left. Marcus Daniels scored 3:40 into the third period, then Joe Bordak (at 11:25) and Elijah Bordak (at 15:13) completed the scoring for Vancouver.

“We worked hard the whole game and played solid defense like we needed to do,” Vancouver coach John Nogatch said.

Vancouver goalie Mitch Saviola made 39 saves, and the Victory killed off all eight Generals power plays.

“If we play like we played (Sunday), we will give Seattle a run for their money,” Nogatch said.
