The Environmental Protection Agency has recognized Evergreen Public Schools for energy efficiency.

The federal agency included 10 school districts in the Pacific Northwest on a list of Energy Star Leaders for building efficiency.

The districts on the list improved efficiency of all their buildings by at least 10 percent or consistently had their buildings rank in the top 25 percent for efficient energy use.

Other Washington school districts on the list were Ferndale, Bethel and Lake Stevens. Beaverton and Gresham-Barlow school districts in the Portland area also made the list.

Districts tracked energy performance using an electronic tool issued by the EPA.
