SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — San Jose Sharks coach Todd McLellan will miss the team’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers because of concussion symptoms.

General manager Doug Wilson said Tuesday that McLellan has not been cleared by doctors to return to the bench after being hit in the head by a stick in Minnesota on Sunday.

Assistant coaches Matt Shaw and Jay Woodcroft will lead the team in Tuesday night’s game against Philadelphia. Wilson said the team’s main concern is for McLellan to recover. He said he would have no further comment at this time.

McLellan left Sunday’s game after being hit by the stick of Wild defenseman Marco Scandella. He was alert and responsive in the locker room but did not return to the bench.
