PUYALLUP, Wash. (AP) — Police say a Macy’s loss prevention officer was stabbed by a shoplifting suspect at South Hill Mall in Puyallup.

The 21-year-old victim was rushed to Tacoma General Hospital for emergency surgery and is expected to survive.

He was one of two men working undercover Monday evening who spotted two people wearing stolen clothes under their own clothes.

KOMO reports (http://is.gd/5ctxsu ) the security officer noted tags still on the clothes from the dressing room.

As the suspects were being taken into custody, police say a 17-year-old from University Place pulled the knife. He’s jailed for investigation of assault.

The other suspect, an 18-year-old, was arrested for investigation of shoplifting.
