CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Freshman Ashton Moore scored a career-high 30 points as The Citadel defeated Virginia Wise 91-74 on Monday night, snapping an eight-game losing streak.

The Bulldogs (3-10) had not won a game since defeating Florida Christian College 97-44 on Nov. 21.

Moore was 10 of 16 from the field, hitting 3 of 4 from beyond the arc, and made 7 of 8 free throws. His previous high was 18 points in an 88-69 loss to Charleston Southern on Dec. 14.

Mike Groselle added 19 points and 13 rebounds for The Citadel, which outrebounded the NAIA Cavaliers 37-24. Cosmo Morabbi added 17 and DeVontae Wright had 13.

The Citadel led 49-40 at the half, then saw Virginia-Wise close to 58-55 with 13:28 remaining. Morabbi and Groselle made layups to get the lead back to seven and the Cavaliers did not threaten again.

Travis Berry led Virginia-Wise (4-7) with 20 points.
