Understanding of problem gambling lags in Wash.

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — As the gambling business has grown in Washington state, some industry watchers say Washington has not kept a close enough eye on gambling addiction.

The Columbian (http://is.gd/qlAp1s ) reports the state of Washington has taken steps to reduce gambling addiction in the past decade. Just how successful the state has been is difficult to say.

No recent study exists on the problem, even as gambling has mushroomed into a $2.5-billion industry.
