Meet Hazel, an 8-year-old Plott hound mix. She’s a very quiet girl who needs a quiet, relaxed home where she can cuddle up and sleep next to her new family in the evenings. Her new home needs a fenced yard to keep her safe, because she’s a hound who loves to follow her nose. She will do best in a home with children older than 10. Hazel should meet them before heading home with them.

Chip is an 8-year-old lynx point Siamese. This handsome boy was returned to our shelter when his family decided they could no longer care for him. Now he is back with us, hoping that this time his new family will keep him for the rest of his golden years. Chip is such a laid-back and gentle boy. We think he would do best in a home with no children younger than 10, just because he prefers not to be held for long.

These pets are among those available for adoption from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Humane Society for Southwest Washington, 1100 N.E. 192nd Ave., Vancouver. Fees — which can include registered microchip, health exam, a spay or neuter certificate and vaccination — vary. Call 360-693-4746.
