NEWARK, Del. (AP) — Elena Delle Donne had 37 points, breaking the school’s career scoring record, as No. 21 Delaware beat Towson 74-51 on Thursday night.

Delle Donne, the country’s leading scorer at 28.8 points per game, now has 1,685 career points. The 6-foot-5 junior broke the Delaware record in her 63rd career game, 50 games fewer than the previous record holder, Cindy Johnson, who scored 1,675 from 1997-2001.

Delle Donne, who also had nine rebounds and three assists, shot 16 for 22 from the floor, including 3 of 5 on 3-pointers.

The Blue Hens (11-1, 2-0 Colonial Athletic Association) never trailed and took a 30-23 lead on Delle Donne’s jumper just before the halftime buzzer.

Tanisha McTiller scored 16 points to lead three players in double figures for the Tigers (11-2, 1-1).
