GRAMBLING, La. (AP) — Quincy Roberts has 21 points as the lone Grambling State player in double figures, and the Tigers used steady free-throw shooting late to secure a 60-55 win over Alabama A&M on Thursday night for their first victory of the season.

Roberts and his supporting cast took over down the stretch for Grambling (1-11, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) as he, Brandon Dorsett, Bryant Purvis and David Copeland combined to hit 7 of 8 foul shots in the final minute to seal the win.

Alabama A&M opened the game on a 4-0 swing, but Grambling came right back and then some with 11 straight points. The Tigers never trailed again and led 36-28 at halftime.

Casey Canty led the Bulldogs (2-9, 0-2) with 24 points, and Jeremy Crutcher added 14. Alabama A&M has dropped eight consecutive games, and the Bulldogs’ only wins this season are against non-Division I teams.
