YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) — Ashen Ward scored 21 points and Youngstown State used a 5-0 run in the final minute of overtime to sink Loyola of Chicago 68-64 on Thursday night.

Youngstown State’s Kendrick Perry, who finished with 13 points, sank a free throw with 22 seconds remaining in regulation to send the contest into overtime.

In the extra frame, Joe Crisman sank a jumper to put Loyola ahead 64-63 with 1:46 to play. But Damian Eargle’s jumper with 53 seconds left started a 5-0 run the rest of the way and the Penguins’ defense stepped up, forcing three missed shots and two turnovers, to seal it.

The Penguins (8-6, 3-1 Horizon League) turned the ball over just three times in the contest, capitalizing on nine by the Ramblers. They scored 14 points off those.

Walt Gibler’s double-double, scoring 26 points and getting 11 rebounds, paced the Ramblers (5-10, 0-5).
