ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — Police said five-time boxing champion Johnny Tapia may have been driving under the influence when he crashed his car in Albuquerque.
Albuquerque police said the 44-year-old slammed his black SUV into a curb near a golf course Thursday afternoon but was not injured.
Police said Tapia failed a field sobriety test. However, a breath sample showed that Tapia did not have alcohol in his body.
Police took a blood sample to determine if Tapia, who was not arrested, was on a depressant. He could face DWI charges if results come back positive.
