HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Long-shot Heavenly Landing closed with a rush for her first stakes victory Saturday in the $100,000, Grade 3 Marshua’s River Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

Heavenly Landing, a 19-1 choice ridden by Corey Lanerie, overcame a troubled trip to catch La Reine Lionne by a nose at the finish of the 1 1/16-mile race. It was her third consecutive win since trainer Eddie Kenneally switched her to turf.

A heated battle between La Reine Lionne and Tapitsfly near the wire was joined by Heavenly Landing, who found room late after being blocked in the stretch and made it a three-horse photo finish.

Heavenly Landing got her nose to the wire first and paid $40.80, $13 and $9.60. La Reine Lionne edged Tapitsfly by a head for second.
