Long Beach State beats Cal State Northridge 81-68

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. (AP) — Larry Anderson scored 20 points and T.J. Robinson 17 to lead Long Beach State to an 81-68 victory against Cal State Northridge on Saturday night.

Casper Ware and James Ennis had 12 points each and Eugene Phelps added 14 rebounds for the 49ers (10-6, 3-0 Big West).

Josh Greene scored 15 points and Stephan Hicks and Aqeel Quinn 12 apiece for the Matadors (4-9, 1-2).

Long Beach State has won the last five meetings between the schools.

The 49ers led 39-31 at intermission and took permanent control by opening the second half with a 9-2 run. Anderson scored five points and Robinson four during the surge, and the Matadors got no closer than 11 points afterward.
