DALLAS (AP) — Dallas Mavericks guard Jason Kidd will miss at least the next three games because of a lower back injury.

Kidd was sidelined for Saturday night’s game against New Orleans, and coach Rick Carlisle said the guard also won’t play when the Mavericks hit the road on consecutive nights against Detroit and Boston next week.

Carlisle says the team will re-evaluate where Kidd is after that. The coach says the injury isn’t thought to be serious but that the team “will err on the side of caution” with the 38-year-old Kidd.

Kidd, who left late in the first quarter of Thursday night’s loss at San Antonio, is receiving treatment and Carlisle says he’s doing better every day.
