La Salle coasts past Massachusetts 82-75

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Earl Pettis scored 19 points and Ramon Galloway had 18 as La Salle built a 26-point halftime lead and coasted to an 82-75 victory over Massachusetts 82-75 Sunday.

The Explorers (12-4, 2-0 Atlantic 10 Conference), who won their fifth in a row, shot 56.7 percent (17 of 30) as they built a 51-25 halftime lead, including 10 of 16 on 3-pointers. Pettis and D.J. Peterson each made three 3-pointers in the first half, and Galloway and Sam Mills made two apiece.

La Salle’s second-half shooting dropped to 36 percent (9 of 25), but it still led the Minutemen (12-4, 1-1) by 11 points with a minute left.

Tyreek Duren had 12 points and eight assists for La Salle, Mills had 11 points and Jerrell Wright had 12 rebounds.

Chaz Williams scored 24 points, Jesse Morgan 22 and Sean Carter 18 for Massachusetts, which had won six straight.
