BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) — Donald Johnson scored 15 points and CS Bakersfield edged NJIT 71-70 on Tuesday night.

Mo Hughley tied a career high with 14 points, Tyrone White matched that and Issiah Grayson scored 10 for the Roadrunners (9-9), who shot 53 percent in winning their second in a row.

Isaiah Wilkerson led the Highlanders (6-9) with 24 points. Chris Flores hit four 3-pointers and scored 16, and Lamar Kearse added 13.

The Roadrunners’ key was a 13-2 spurt that turned a 57-53 deficit into a 66-59 lead with 4:54 to go. Johnson started the run with a three-point play, and Stephon Carter’s steal and fast-break basket gave Bakersfield the lead for good at 58-57.

NJIT got a 3-pointer from Flores to trim the gap to 68-67 with 57 seconds left. Hughley sank one free throw and Grayson two before Flores hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the final margin.
