PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Police have arrested a man they say matches the description of the person who robbed a southeast Portland bank and left behind a fake bomb in a backpack.

Sgt. Pete Simpson said 50-year-old Tom Cloud was booked into jail on a federal hold. The bank robbery investigation continues as well.

The Oregonian reports that (http://is.gd/EU86Fl ) police say the robber walked up to a drive-through window at a U.S. Bank branch about 9:20 a.m. Tuesday and demanded money, saying he had a bomb in his backpack. He took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled, leaving the backpack behind.

The bank was evacuated and the bomb squad responded. Simpson says bomb technicians opened the backpack remotely and found a hoax device inside.

Police made the arrest shortly after 11 a.m.
