10 years for manslaughter in drunken Ore. brawl

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A young Oregon man who fatally shot another man during a drunken brawl east of Portland has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for manslaughter.

Miguel Ibarra-Romero was 18 at the time of the Dec. 4, 2010, shooting. He told police that he drank six beers and smoked marijuana in the hours before his group of friends had a run-in with another group of young men. Killed was 24-year-old Jose Roberto Pool-Puc.

Ibarra-Romero pleaded no contest to the charge. He was sentenced Wednesday in Circuit Court.
