YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) — A defendant in a Grandview drive-by gang shooting who refused to take a plea bargain was convicted at his trial in Yakima and sentenced Tuesday to seven years in prison.

The Yakima Herald-Republic reports (http://is.gd/O6DVCJ ) that was twice as long as the prison terms given to two accomplices who made plea bargains with the prosecutor.

The 23-year-old Ely Hernandez Garcia was driving the car from which the two other men fired shots last June at a parked car. It was apparently in retaliation for vandalism to another car.
