Indiana State holds on to beat Evansville 80-78

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (AP) — Jake Odum had 15 points and seven assists and Indiana State held on to beat Evansville 80-78 on Tuesday night.

Dewayne Lathan added 14 points and six rebounds, and Lucas Eitel scored 12 for the Sycamores (11-5, 2-3 Missouri Valley), who saw an 11-point lead with just under 5 minutes left shrink to 79-78 with 9 seconds remaining after Jordan Nelson’s 3-pointer.

Lathan made a free throw, and Evansville’s last 3-point try was off the mark.

Ned Cox led Evansville (7-8, 2-3) with 22 points, making all four of his 3-point attempts. Troy Taylor came close to a triple-double for the Purple Aces with 12 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Colt Ryan had 17 points and Kenny Harris scored 14 for Evansville.
