Letter: Look beyond candidate’s religion

The Columbian
Published: January 10, 2012, 4:00pm

What is it that people don’t like about Mitt Romney? The fact that he is called a Mormon.

I hear news commentators say that the evangelical Christians won’t vote for him because of it. Mitt Romney is a Christian. He is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is not The Mormon Church. Mormon is a nickname and has been used for the people in the church after a prophet/historian named Mormon.

Vote for the man, his faith in God, principles, integrity, experience, and leadership. Not the church he goes to.

As a nation, we need to rise above religious bigotry.
