Teenager charged with arson in Central Oregon fire

BEND, Ore. (AP) — A 16-year-old boy has been charged with arson and animal abuse after police say he set fire to a Redmond home.

The fire on Monday morning was contained to one room, but burned a cat living in the home.

The cat survived, but the home suffered significant smoke and fire damage, the Bend Bulletin reports (http://bit.ly/xyUimK ).

The 16-year-old faces arson, attempted aggravated animal abuse, criminal mischief and reckless burning charges.
