MILWAUKEE (AP) — Outfielder Carlos Gomez and the Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a one-year deal worth $1,962,500, avoiding salary arbitration.
Gomez played 94 games for the Brewers last season, batting .225 with eight home runs and 24 RBIs. Nyjer Morgan eventually took over as the team’s primary center fielder.
In addition to Gomez’s base salary, he can earn $25,000 each for 450, 475, 500 and 525 plate appearances. His performance bonuses are the same as they were in 2011.
Six Brewers players remain in arbitration: Morgan, starter Shaun Marcum and relievers Francisco Rodriguez, Kameron Loe, Manny Parra and Jose Veras.
