MONTREAL (AP) — Pier-Olivier Cote’s defense of his IBF Intercontinental light welterweight title against American Mauricio Herrera has been postponed because the Quebec City fighter is sick.
The fight was scheduled for Feb. 3 in Quebec City.
Promoter Jean Bedard said talks would be held with Showtime on a new date for the match. He said they didn’t want to take a chance of letting Cote fight after he missed training time because of the illness.
Cote (18-0) won the vacant title with a second-round knockout of Jorge Luis Teron in November.
