Gang ties suspected in convenience store shooting

HERMISTON, Ore. (AP) — Police are investigating gang ties in a shooting at a convenience store in the northeast Oregon town of Hermiston that killed one person.

Umatilla County District Attorney Dan Primus tells the East Oregonian (http://bit.ly/zNJJml ) that the body of 22-year-old Salvador Valencia is scheduled for an autopsy in Portland.

Multiple gunshots were reported, and police believe other people may have been injured during the shooting on Monday.

Valencia was dead when paramedics arrived.

The region’s major crimes team is investigating.
