Reichelt fastest in downhill training run

WENGEN, Switzerland (AP) — Hannes Reichelt of Austria was fastest in a training run Thursday in World Cup downhill on the Lauberhorn course.

Reichelt clocked 2 minutes, 37.46 seconds down the 2.75-mile track, the longest on tour. Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway fought a cold to be 0.16 seconds back.

Switzerland’s Carlo Janka, the 2010 Lauberhorn winner, was third. Defending champion Klaus Kroell of Austria was sixth.

Bode Miller of the United States, who beat Cuche for victory in 2007 and ’08, trailed Reichelt by 2.40.

The 82nd Lauberhorn event opens with the super-combined event on Friday.
