LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — Kansas coach Charlie Weis has hired Clint Bowen as a special teams coordinator and defensive assistant, and Jeff Blasko as assistant special teams coordinator and tight ends coach.

The school announced the moves Wednesday.

Bowen played defensive back for Kansas in the 1990s before starting his coaching career with the Jayhawks. He rose to co-defensive coordinator and helped lead Kansas to a victory in the 2008 Insight Bowl. He spent last season as defensive coordinator and safeties coach for North Texas.

Blasko was a quality control coach for the offense under Weis at Florida. He also spent three seasons as a graduate assistant at Akron.
