BATTLE GROUND — David Suetta, a junior at Battle Ground High School, died Thursday morning off campus, an official said.

Students were informed Thursday. Counselors were available Thursday and will be available all day Friday, said the school district’s communications director, Gregg Herrington.

An official with the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office said an autopsy is scheduled for Friday. The Sheriff’s Office also is investigating.

“Perhaps because of the rural but close-knit nature of the district and its residents, the loss of a student or employee is deeply felt throughout Battle Ground Public Schools,” Herrington said in a bulletin.

Principal Tim Lexow sent home with students a document explaining how students may deal with an unexpected death, and saying parents should stay close to them.

Parents are invited to call the county’s Crisis Hotline at 360-696-9560. The school’s number to speak with counselors is 360-885-6556; administrators are available at 360-885-6550.
