FLORENCE, Ore. (AP) — Oregon State Police detectives are investigating the suspicious death of a 22-year-old Portland man whose body was found in a burning vehicle on the Oregon coast.

Sgt. Andy Kenyon says firefighters responding late Tuesday night to a report of a burning vehicle just off U.S. Highway 101 north of Florence found a man later identified as Jude Mahaffy.

State police announced the investigation Friday. The Lane County district attorney’s office is also investigating.
