Texas State ends skid, tops McNeese State 82-73

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Vonn Jones and Reid Koenen scored 15 points each as Texas State snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating McNeese State 82-73 on Saturday.

Brooks Ybarra added 13 points for the Bobcats (8-8, 1-2 Southland), and Matt Staff had 10 points and 14 rebounds.

Patrick Richard led McNeese State (6-9, 2-1) with 18 points. Rudy Turner added 13 and Craig McFerrin had 12.

Travis Jones scored seven of his nine points during an 11-1 run to open the second half as the Bobcats pulled away for a 43-32 lead. The lead stayed in double digits for most of the second half until McNeese State got as close as six points in the final minute.

Texas State took advantage of its inside strength, outscoring the Cowboys 44-32 on points in the paint and winning the rebounding battle 44-35.
