Woodland — The Woodland School Board appointed a firefighter-paramedic earlier this week to serve a two-year term, officials said.

Jeremy Stuart will serve as board director for Area 5, encompassing Ariel and Cougar. Stuart, who replaced Steve Madsen, will serve through December 2013. He will be sworn in during the Jan. 23 meeting.

In a district news release, Stuart said having four young children, including two in the school district, made him eager to become involved and spark positive change.

Stuart, a Woodland High graduate, is the grandson of longtime Woodland School Board member Don Stuart.
