Evansville knocks off Missouri State 87-82 in OT

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — Lewis Jones scored 24 points off the bench and Colt Ryan added 22 as Evansville defeated Missouri State 87-82 in overtime Sunday.

Denver Holmes added 16 points while Troy Taylor had 14 points and 14 rebounds for the Purple Aces (8-9, 3-4 Missouri Valley), who snapped a four-game losing streak.

Kyle Weems led Missouri State (11-8, 4-3) with 17 points. Anthony Downing added 16, and Michael Bizoukas had 12 assists.

Ryan had six points in the overtime period, and Jones hit two big buckets — a jumper with 3:52 remaining that gave Evansville the lead for good, 79-77, with 3:52 left, and another basket with 1:57 remaining after the Bears had pulled within 81-80.

Holmes hit two 3-pointers in the final 31 seconds of regulation, including one with 15 seconds left that tied the game at 75 and sent it into overtime.
